The Search For A New MPV: Step 8 - Postpartem Depression

Inevitably, all things come to an end.

Your sad Uber ride has arrived

That's certainly true of the car purchasing experience. Of course, that's when the car owning experience begins. But for me, the search is the fun part.

When I look for a car for me, I always skip the dealerships. Why? Because, in the past, they've typically asked higher prices for used cars. That still holds true, though based on what we just saw, they're willing to deal right down to the proper KBB value.

But the KBB from a dealer is always higher than private party, something I can't stomach. And of all the cars I've ever personally owned, only one was from a dealership. Well, that's not quite true; the Alfa 164 was from a tiny high(er) end foreign car lot. But it was actually the owner's car that I bought so it could be argued that I still bought it from a private owner.

Interestingly, when it comes to buying a car for the wife, it's completely the opposite; we've never bought her a car from anywhere other than a dealership. Why, you may ask? Because we always buy an extended warranty. But that doesn't make sense, you declare! You're right; we could also buy an extended warranty on a car bought from a private party. But it's a hassle and my approach and mindset is different, to tell you the truth.

Also, with the wife's car, there's always a trade-in while there's never, ever a trade-in for mine. I always buy and sell privately.

Weird, I know. It's not a conscious thing, it's just how it always works out.

But now that the wifey has a new-to-her car, the search is over and the depression sets in. Maybe we should have looked longer and harder is the common thought. But no, this is the perfect car for her right now and there's no doubting it.

Still, can't help but be a bit bummed that it's over for now. Until next time; it's back to looking at cars online.
