Will the real Mr. Lund please stand up |
In case you missed the recent issue of a certain car magazine whose name starts with the third and fourth letters of the alphabet, here's a quick rundown on the mysterious bazillionaire Nygard Lund.
- He's another one who wants to reinvent the car
- He's developed organic batteries that are capable of propelling an old MB with a custom body for 240 miles at cruising speeds. The energy comes from a apricots inside an electrolyte solution
- He owns his own neighborhood, which he's turned into a research facility, that borders on an orchard which he also owns
- He's developed a carbon-fiber like material that is strong, easy to work with and cheap to produce. The prototype is wearing a body made out of it
- He never wears shoes, paints his toenails, is painfully hipster and yet he's in his late 40s
- His prototype vehicle doesn't have windows and he's clearly not interested in having them. Instead, there are video screens for passengers to view life whizzing by out of
- He always wears a bathrobe
- He loves the feel of traditional steering. No electric, surprisingly
- His prototype can be programmed to mimic the driving characteristics of just about any vehicle, including a 1970 911S, 1977 Cadillac Sedan DeVille and a 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T. How that's possible is beyond us
I was starting to think i dreamt reading that article! I read it on a plane and then left the magazine behind, so i have no evidence of it even existing. The whole thing is ludicrous. Is C&D pulling a fast one, or Lund? I'm afraid to even talk about the article with friends in case they think i'm as mad as it is.
ReplyDeleteHave you managed to find any more information about Lund or his schemes? There seems to be little or nothing on Google...
I think you're not the only one who fell for that April Fool's prank. It certainly was detailed and convincing!
ReplyDeleteDetailed but NOT CONVINCING
