$50K Comparo: Audi S3 vs Chevrolet SS

In a recent article in a well known car rag, the comparison was made between the Audi S3 and the Chevrolet SS. The conclusion was, while similarly priced, both had their differences but they were both good and relatively comparable purchases. But they forgot to mention one thing...

You know where this is heading; what's the five-year cost for each? We're here to set your mind at ease. Here's the numbers for you to peruse.

2016 Audi S3: total cost is $54,555...depreciation is a notable $24,913.

2015 Chevrolet SS: total cost is $60,293...but $27,221 deprecation wallops you where it hurts.

Huh. So the Chevy is significantly more costly to own. One of the biggest factors between the two cars is mpg, with the Audi costing an estimated $8,148 and the Chevy gulping $12,457. That's a lot of gasoline and money.

And because you're wondering, the estimated maintenance costs of the S3 are $7,386, the Chevy is $5,587. So some of the fuel costs are recouped by the Chevy, but not all.

Interesting!
