2016 Buick Envision

Why is this vehicle significant?

Even though it's not quite for sale yet in Buick dealerships, this midsize CUV is hugely significant because it will be the first mainstream vehicle sold in the United States but built in (Yantai) China.

It will be riding on the updated Opel-designed D2XX plaform, which will also underpin future Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Volt and Buick Verano models.

Other than that, the Envision is not remarkable in any particular way. But we won't be surprised if it's just the first of a new wave of cars produced in China and sold here.
