1981 Delorean

It's hard to quantify what's rare in the car world. To some people, anything less than several thousand vehicles produced is rare while to others nothing is rare unless it's less than a dozen. And when you factor in special editions and options...well, things get messy and there's gonna be a smackdown.

How about 7? Is seven vehicles produced with a special paint job rare to you? How about if the car is normally unpainted, with a stainless steel body? Okay, things just got weird.

We'll just leave the explanation to the seller.

"1981 Delorean DMC12, Candy Apple Red over charcoal Grey leather, only 18,964 miles. It has just undergone a mild restoration after sitting for the past 8 years. Fluids flushed and changed, brakes gone through, front and rear fascias removed and repainted, New Fuel pump, new plugs, new starter, new fuel filter, seats recovered, headliner and door panels re-done, and much more. One of the DeLorean dealers back in the day was owned by John DeLorean's brother and was located in Lakewood, Ohio and was known as Delorean Cadillac up until last year. In 1982, this dealership bought more than 100 DeLorean cars, and painted several of them in "candy apple" colors with a unique striping pattern - at least some of them were also fitted with aftermarket turbochargers. Of these Candy Apple Red cars only 7 were done like this that still exist. In addition to this, there were also blue, black, red and purple cars done by DeLorean Cadillac. If you want a rare piece of automotive history, please contact us today. Will not last at this price. Please Call to schedule an inspection. Thank you for looking. $35,000"
