THIS RARE ALTERNATIVE TO A PORSCHE 550 AND MORE AFFORDABLE DEVIN SPYDER SPORTS CAR / CLUB RACER WAS DROPPED OFF TO US BY ITS CURRENT OWNER WHO IS ROTATING HIS COLLECTION. . . NOT YET HAVING A CHANCE TO FIND OUT THE EXACT HISTORY OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR -- THIS IS WHAT I KNOW:
LINK TO A BRIEF HISTORY OF DEVIN

ABOUT OUR CAR:
APPEARS TO VW POWERED- DO NOT KNOW WHAT SIZE THE MOTOR IS, WHAT'S BEEN DONE TO THE MOTOR OR HOW MANY MILES ON THE MOTOR ? DO NOT KNOW WHAT TRANSMISSION IS ( IT IS MANUAL- REVERSE IS LOCATED DOWN & TO THE LEFT ) OR WHAT AXLES ARE ? TRANSMISSION / CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT IS NICE & SMOOTH. EMERGENCY BRAKE DOES ENGAGE. BRAKE PEDAL DOES FEEL LIGHT.
INTERIOR IS AS BASIC AS YOU CAN GET- NOT SURE IF SPEEDOMETER WORKS? BUCKETS SEATS ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. DOES NOT HAVE INNER DOOR PANELS. DO NOT KNOW IF LIGHTS OR WIPERS WORK ? FRONT BONNET DOES HAVE WHAT APPEARS TO COMPLETE SOFT TOP , BATTERY AND FUEL FILLER CAP.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THE CAR TO BE GONE OVER / SAFETY INSPECTED BEFORE JUMPING IN AND DRIVING ON PUBLIC ROADS. CAR DOES HAVE VIN PLATE ON DRIVERS DOORS SILL AND CLEAN NJ TITLE WITH DOCUMENTED 66,000 ORIGINAL MILES.
QUICK START UP AND WALK AROUND VIDEO:
FOR MORE PICS AND INFO CONTACT. 66K DOCUMENTED MILES ON CLEAN TITLE - $27000
The link to the history of the Devin is quick good. But if you're too busy to click it, here's what we'd add about the Devin; the company existed from 1957 to 1964, the brainchild of Bill Devin, who was an exotic car dealer in Los Angeles. Our featured car appears to be a Devin D, which was offered as a kit for $1,495 or fully assembled for $2,950. It's possible to figure out which this was with some research but we'd take an unscientific stab at it and say this was probably built from a kit. The original engine was indeed a VW and there was a variant named the Devin C that was basically the same thing but with a Corvair engine. Exact production numbers are difficult to determine but several hundred were produced. Is the car worth $27K? The REVolution tentatively says yes but an expert should really look it over.
