1962-1963 Mercury Country Cruise
The Meteor has a surprisingly convoluted history and if you ever need to waste about an hour looking something up online, there's a breadcrumb for you. But in 1962, Ford took the Fairlane and made it into a Mercury Meteor. The wagon version was dubbed the fabulously named Country Cruise. It was all over just a year later.

Well, there's a wagon that has lived its whole life as a REAL wagon. She gets used! Nice trim package. The owner did not specifically mention the fender skirts. Since they don't match the paint, I wonder if they are an add-on.
ReplyDeleteMeteor has a special place for us Canucks. It was its own marque up here in the early 1950s. A racing buddy of mine still has a gorgeous green 1953 Meteor sedan with a flathead V-8 and a 3-on-the-tree. I don't suppose there was a wagon in that line, as they were a low-budget alternative, set up to compete with Pontiac.
You beat me to it. See today's post!
Delete...which, if you can follow the convoluted history, means the car above is a US-only wagon.
