Although I surely saw some of the early 60s ones, it is only the 1967 that I really remember (does that make me a "young whippersnapper"?). They defined the "Aircraft Carrier Station Wagon" for me. They truly were "Yuge"! Since I was captured by Brit and Euro cars at that time, these Chryslers were as far from my "cool" radar as possible.
ReplyDeleteYou wish! Ha ha! Ah, to be younger...and dumber. I'm not saying YOU'D be dumber...aw heck, you know what I mean.
DeleteGlad you found these interesting. I loved the 50s and the 65-68s, personally.
Interesting how cars like this can slip below the cool radar at the time. They were just...cars! In this case, station wagons, of course. But they were mostly just utilitarian, never meant to be anything other than that. Now they're objet d' art, for some
So where's the other half?
ReplyDeleteIt's up now!
DeleteThat video on the 1941 is a great piece. Firstly, it is cool to see those gorgeous back doors. What a work of art. Also, I enjoyed the family history with the car. I am a sucker for stories like that. I spend a couple of years trying to track down one of my old cars. Sadly, I arrived too late at its final resting place. The yard owner told me it had been crushed a few months earlier. Sniff....
ReplyDeleteWhich one?
Delete1967 Ford Anglia race car. The one with the engine moved into the passenger seat area. Nicknamed "The Sidewinder". It was my son that triggered me to look for it.
DeleteOh wow. How cool. Sorry to hear it was gone.
