Who knew the Polaris Slingshot article from the other day would be so popular. Let's check out some of the other competitors!
I love 5th Gear (or Fifth Gear, if you're Miss Jackson). Always have, always will. For me, there's just no comparison to any other show, including Top Gear. It may not contain enough stupid stunts for some, but for me it's perfection. I could watch every episode...oh wait, I have. Yessir; every...single...one.

ReplyDeleteWell, that CL ad leaves me close to speechless. The photo of the owner with the machine (Mr. Bear, maybe?) demonstrates that the vision likely was implemented without compromise.
DeleteI especially like the lack of seat belts, while the lucky driver straddles the shifter. This makes a proud statement about freedom.
Wow, lots of interesting info in this post. I could not help but wonder how a Quebec-registered T-Rex wound up at the test track for 5th Gear. That test just reinforced my basic comment about any of these vehicles: You still get wet when it rains.
ReplyDeleteI loved the comparo of the three threes. That Can-Am looks like it would be irritating and scary, when the Electro-nannies cut in. The rider really looked like he got surprised and unsettled.
The comments on the front-end geometry of the Slingshot immediately make me wonder what can be done to improve it. I have experienced the huge changes one can make with an adjustable front end on a race car. Of course Polaris probably has set it up to prevent people killing themselves (think: almost all current factory FWD chassis tuning).
For me, it would be the Morgan. But at almost $80K? What the h*ll? Was it Shakespeare who asked "What price love"? I found this wonderful short film about how the new Morgans are built. I melted.

Nessa, you always find the most...uh...interesting...uh...cars for sale. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteBobinott, of the vehicles above, I've only driven a Can-Am. It was, frankly, awesome. I loved it. But I did feel like a complete nerd on it. I don't think I've got the chutzpah to pull it off. Did you get a chance to click on the Arcimoto link above? That would be one solution to the problem you mentioned. Plus, I'd wear full gear in all of these anyway. But that's just me. Termite jokes aside, I also agree with you about the Morgan - it's definitely the most desirable to me too.
