2015 Polaris Slingshot

Fun is in the watery eye of the beholder, apparently.

I wasn't brave enough to ask for a picture. Photo: Wikipedia

Last week, the SO and I stopped at a Dunkin' Donut to score us an iced coffee drink. Our sugar and caffeine levels were dangerously low, causing much gnashing of teeth. Hopping out of the Shadowagon, I almost fell face first into the passenger seat of a Polaris Slingshot.

First impression, "Man is there a lot of plastic in this thing."

Heavyset, swarthy dude who looks like he's either a shut-in app programmer or a rug salesman (no racial slurs intended) sitting there, sweating and looking generally miserable.

"I like your Slingshot."

"Thanks"

"Do you like it? What do you think of it?"

"It's okay. I only take it out when it's nice. It's not very comfortable." Accompanied by a massive eye roll.

"Oh. Sorry to hear that. But it's still very cool."

"Yeah. Thanks."

What did he think he was buying when he bought a 4-cylinder GM-powered trike?

  2. Interesting video, with good balance. I have just started to see TV ads for these things, so this post is timely.

Here is a Car and Driver article which provides some details about the powertrain etc:

  4. OK, so now we can start a philosophical debate about whether a Polaris Slingshot helps us "to make the most of our assets". Maybe the visceral driving experience helps us "to empty the mind of the crap life throws at us". Thanks to Kokila and Jonita for raising the level of our discussions.
