Just as a point of reference, NADA lists the MSRP for an 89 Honda Civic wagon as $10.1K, +$2K with 4WD...I'm not so sure that the Honda was all that much more expensive, comparatively.
There's no doubt where Mitsu's money is coming from in the States. Why they haven't capitalized on that is beyond me. Other than the obvious problems, of course.
