B Challenges U

Our pal Bobinott has a challenge for you; name as many rear-engined front-wheel-drive cars (OEM from a major manufacturer, more than a dozen produced) that you can.. He'll fire off the first volley with the 1933 Dymaxion. What, all done already?

  1. I love it! An utterly nonsensical and insane layout that only the Europeans would try to produce, specifically the Russians and the French. But I can't think of a single good example! Thumbs up!

    1. Well, surprisingly the Brits were still thinking about this layout, as recently as 1999:

  2. It's awfully quiet out there.....

How about the 1932 Coleman Motor Company "Maroon Car"?

Rather an ungainly looking beast. Hard to imagine that this came from the same company that produced a really pretty Indy Car in that same period.

  3. I'm unaware of any production car with that layout, of any nationality and the vehicles above wouldn't meet the criteria you defined. Maybe because RF is a dumb idea, period.

  4. But it's a humorous concept!

  5. There's probably a few more weirdo concepts out there but I've got nothing.

  6. Yeah, I have to agree that there was a certain degree of "Wild Goose Chase" in this one. Like the rest of you, I have not actually found any volume-produced R/F cars.

I suppose one could try out the concept by disabling the rear final drive on a Porsche Carrera 4S. Anyone willing to volunteer the use of theirs, to help advance Science?
