Whazzat: Bufori Geneva

Welcome to the first installment of Whazzat, wherein we strive to find a maker or model you may not have heard of. If you have, then it will be a reminder of an interesting car or company. Our first feature vehicle is the Bufori Geneva.

Bufori Geneva

At its unveiling in 2011 Bufori's marketing declared, "The Geneva is targeted at individuals who are unable to identify themselves with a  bland mass-produced luxury car."

Built in Malaysia, the Geneva is powered by a 430 horsepower Chrysler 6.1 liter Hemi V8, can dash from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 166 mph. In addition to the expected luxury features, the Geneva also has a cigar humidor, instant hot water tap for your tea that utilizes the included china and a built-in safe for your valuables.

The body is a carbon fiber and Kevlar mix infused with "vinylester resin" and the electronics include all of the latest safety doodads, not the least of which is a thermal imaging night-vision camera.

You may be wondering about that mention of Kevlar and yes, you can have a bulletproof Geneva. Except...the factory doesn't like that term. Instead, they dub it "ballistic resistance". So there's that; it's an option if you live in South Africa. You can also have the Hemi supercharged up to 600 horsepower, so maybe it would be easier to just outrun the criminals.

Production numbers are a bit scarce but our best guess is somewhere around two dozen a year. It takes about 9,000 hours to build one for you and the cost ranges from $150,000 to $300,000...back in 2011, so you can pretty much double that now.

Enjoy this wonderful video review of the Bufori Geneva and marvel at the utter lack of taste some people have color-wise.

  1. Interesting. Certainly I had not heard of this one. I am amazed that companies can build these low-volume creations and sell at a profit.

Generally decent styling, but I would like to see how it would look with some chrome at the front. Minor quibble, I think Rolls Royce had those stationary wheel-centre emblems before 2011. I remember seeing one in 2009.

  2. In the video, who decided THAT was a good color to paint ANY car? I like that blue though. Reminds me of your Spider, K2.
