Produced by Shelby American, this four-door hatchback pocket rocket
pumped out a very healthy 252 turbocharged horsies...it's hard to imagine that the
new RS will have 350, but the AWD will assuage the fears of
tendon-ripping torque steer. Hopefully.
Only 500 Shelby Focus STs were made
and in our admittedly brief online search we found exactly none for sale. You might
have better luck than we did but chances are that there aren't many out
there. Most likely, they're stowed away in a hardcore Ford fanatic's
garagemahal. Current value is anybody's guess at this point in space and time. The EcoBoost produced what it promised; 32 mpg was attainable if you kept your foot out it and all
you had to do was plunk down $15K+ and give Shelby your Focus for them
to sharpen.
Huh, another one I did not know about! We only got the regular ST up here. As I recall, it also had 252 hp.
ReplyDeleteI test drove one, and it amazed me. With TC off, and with no effort at all, you could spin the front wheels at any time right up through 3rd gear. I didn't get going fast enough to find out if it would spin in 4th! Not an overly-harsh ride, really tight handling, nice steering, nice ergonomics.
As giggle-inducing as it was, I could not really imagine using it as a daily driver. I certainly could not imagine handing it over to Mrs. Bobinott as a daily driver.
Damn you, K2! Now I want one. Such a fun little toy/runabout.
ReplyDeleteDo you think anybody would notice me in one of these? Especially the orange-yellow one.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how the new RS sells.
