Excellent retrospective. It can be enlightening to revisit an old car for which we carry "period memories". In this case, a car that many of us disparaged back in the day proves to have many redeeming qualities.
Of course, sometimes it works the other way. Cars that we carry closely in our hearts can prove to be huge disappointments if we drive them again today. BTW, Paul Simon told us that it works that way with people too, in his song "Kodachrome":
