Things started getting all square-shaped (as opposed to pear). |
The next Fiat station wagon that we have is the Regata, the replacement for the 131/Brava. It went on sale in 1983 and lasted all the way until 1990, though it continued production in Argentina until 1992.
I can't figure out which of the small petrol 4-bangers were offered in the Weekend, but my guess is that it was probably the 64-hp 2.0. With a weight of 2300-ish pounds, this was not a sporting proposition.
But there were several interesting innovations that you got when you purchased one of these small longroofs; to ease cargo loading, a portion of the rear bumper could be lowered. Also, there was a an ES variant that featured a engine idle start-stop system, called City-matic. Once again, whether that last option was available on the wagon, I'm not sure. But this is one of the earliest examples of such technology on a production car (VW also offered it on the Polo around that time).
Pictograms...good idea or not? |
