1998-2004 Mitsuoka Ryoga

Nihon meets Jag.

Oy.

Japanese coachbuilder Mitsuoka has long had a fascination with English cars. But to my knowledge, they've only produced one wagon; the Mitsuoka Ryoga, of which there were two generations.

The first generation was based on the P11 Nissan Primera, which sported a 125 hp 1.8 or a 150 hp 2.0. If it looks vaguely familiar, you're seeing the Infiniti G20 roots.

The second generation appeared in 2001 and switched to the B15 Nissan Sentra/Sunny. The focus changed to efficiency, so only a 105 hp 1.5 was offered. It was relatively slow, but got excellent mpg.

Second gen.
I'm not aware of too many of these escaping from the land of the rising sun. Here's a video of a first gen for sale in Japan.

  1. Another wagon and car company that I've never heard of. You're going deep, K2!

  2. I remember Mitsuoka for their odd Jaguar Mark 2 conversion on a Nissan platform. It nearly worked:
