2016+ Fiat Tipo Type 358

This is it; the end of the road exploring Fiat's station wagons since the late 60s...for now.

That's a real looker.

Looks great from every angle.
The new Tipo station wagon (not to be confused with the old Type 160 by the same name) is nothing more than a more normal looking 500L. So why won't Fiat bring it to the States? Also known as the Egea Hatchback Yeni, the engines are familiar with four petrol and two diesel offerings. They range from a 94 horsepower 1.4 petrol and 1.3 diesel, on up to to 120 horsepower 1.4 petrols that can also run on LPG or CNG, pushing around 2850 pounds. Transmission offerings include a couple of 5-speed manuals, a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed dual-clutch.

In Mexico, this is the new Dodge Neon (in sedan form).

I'm sure there's a review of the estate out there, but I'm too lazy to look harder for it. Here's a rundown of the hatchback version.

The Tipo is just now coming online in Fiat (and related) dealerships overseas, so it's distantly possible that we might get the Tipo. I say slap Alfa Romeo badges on it, install the 160 horsepower 1.4 Turbo MultiAir engine and charge about $30-$40K for it and the sedan variant. That could be a possible real winner and give AR dealers something to actually sell. Or, keep it Fiat if you don't want to take AR upscale, which is a mistake I think. AR is not and will never be a Maserati/Ferrari player, so stop trying. Keep Fiat super cheap and AR a serious step up/upgrade but still reasonable.
